EverQuest II:User Created Books

In the upcoming GU45 update, the Everquest II development team has added a new feature of character flair: user-created books. Now, adventurers across Norrath can record their adventures, budding authors may create their own stories, and more! The news post on the EQ2Players website notes a limit, however, to how much can be placed in a book: “There is no limit to the number of pages, but books are limited by the amount of text. A progress bar will let you know how much more text your book can hold as you are typing.” In further good news, for those perfectionists out there, the writing system can auto-save your writing to your hard drive in case of trouble.

A player interested in creating a book only need to go to a crafter. The books start out blank, begging for your quill to fill them. Any player can write in a blank book, but once pen touches parchment, the book becomes the property of the author, and only the author can edit it. Once you’ve completed your book, you can make as many copies of it as you like. All that’s needed is a blank book. EQ2Players gives the instructions: “Right-click the original book and choose “Copy”. Your cursor will turn into an arrow allowing you to select the blank book in your inventory that you’d like to copy it to.”

These user-created books can also be traded, so you can distribute your novels to friends, or even offer them up on the broker. Upon the breaking of this news, the Everquest II Official Forums exploded. User dreiden asked, “What are the penalties of plagiarism (someone copies Harry Potter into the game)? Who retains copyright of original works placed by players into the game? Sony, the player, joint (Sony and the player) or Creative commons open licenses?”

It’s a good question, especially in the heyday of the Internet, when anyone can copy anything. The official answer from Rothgar?

“Book text is run through the profanity filter the same as chat text if you have the filter enabled. For highly inappropriate text or copywritten material, a book can be reported and CS will take a look at it. If a player continues to cause problems with books, his ability to create/edit can be taken away similar to biography and naming privileges.” To be expected, of course, but a good measure from the developers.

Another interesting item is the copy system itself. According to Rothgar, the programmer that is working on the book content, he says in the forum thread:

“A book can be changed by the author at any time if it’s in his possession. Book text is not linked though. Making a copy makes an entire independent copy of the book.” What this means is that if a player writes a book, then makes a copy, and gives it or sells the copy, that the player can still edit the original book and add new entries and content. The new content won’t extend to the copy. Also, only the author can make copies, and the book can only be edited in the author’s inventory.

In further good news, the tradeskill developer (username DominoDev on the Official Everquest II forum), confirms that the books will not count toward a player’s item total when placed in a home. Rothgar, on the other hand, offers a caveat to those thinking to hoard books in an impromptu Library of Congress - “The jury is still out as far as how many books someone will try to put into a house or guild hall. Every book that you add will be a little more memory that the house will have to consume. A large quantity of books could certainly impact performance. We’ll just have to watch and see how it goes and tweak from there.” We might just have to see user-created books in a phase of updates, if that is the case.

Right now, illustration isn’t allowed in the books. ASCII art, however, may work. To sweeten the deal, a player suggested to Rothgar to allow language-specific text in the books as well. For example, say I decide to write my book in elvish. Since my character is an elf, and knows the language, the book will be understandable by any character that knows the elvish language, and to those who don’t know elven, it will display in elvish text. Once completed, the book’s author and title will become the name of the book item.

Discussion is going on right now over in this thread in the Everquest II Official Forum

My thoughts on the user-created books goes like this: I think it’s a radical idea, the developers, Rothgar in particular, are taking a step forward in really immersing a player, or in the very least, giving those players that consider themselves “bored” something interesting to do. I for one will look into making a book, probably nothing more than a little journal of what my character has seen and done. But this will have growing pains as an added feature, too. Players will inevitably attempt to circumvent the quality of books, possibly plagiarism, perhaps even using the books for hate speech. There are measures in place to try to stem this, but as everyone on the Internet knows, for every 1000, there’s at least 100 that will attempt to ruin things for others. I’m excited to see how far players can take their books as well. Will we see some high-selling books on the broker? Could this also be the start of a possible newsletter/newsprint system in the future, where players can pass out, or even sell, their own newspapers?

Only time will tell.

MMO Movie, Gamer, Shows the Future For MMOs

Ever thought your experiences in a First Person Shooter would make a great movie? Well it seems Directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, creative’s behind the Crank movies have jacked into your thought stream. Gamer (formally Game and then Citizen Game) follows the character Kable, as he battles his way through an MMOFPS called Slayers.

“Gamer is a high-concept action thriller set in the near future, a time when mind-control technology has taken society by storm. Humans control other humans in a mass-scale, multiplayer onlinegame. Reclusive billionaire Ken Castle (Michael C. Hall, Dexter) has created the controversial form of entertainment, “Slayers,” a hugely popular game that allows millions to act out their innermost fantasies and desires - online - in front of a global audience. Gaming has evolved into a terrifying new dimension… mind control… mind manipulation… people playing people!

At the center is Kable (Gerard Butler, Leonidas from 300), the superstar and cult hero of “Slayers,” the savage, ultra-violent first-person shooter game. Kable is controlled by Simon, a young gamer with a rock star status who continues to defy all odds by guiding Kable to victory each week. Taken from his family, imprisoned and forced to fight against his will, the modern day gladiator must survive long enough to escape the game to free his family, regain his identity, and to save mankind from Castle’s ruthless technology.”

Official Plot, brought to you by slashfilm.com

Some co-stars and actual character names include; “Rick Rape” (Milo Ventimiglia, Peter in Heroes), “Trace” (Alison Lohman from Flicka), “Freek” (played by legendary comedian John Leguizamo who gave an incredible performance as Clown/Violator in Spawn), “DJ Twist” (Efren Ramirez who many of you will recognize as Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite), “Hackman” (Terry Crews, from Everybody Hates Chris and numerous comedic titles), “Gina Parker Smith” (Kyra Sedwick, Brenda from The Closer), “Sandra” (Zoe Bell), and “Humanz Brother” (played by rapper turned actor Ludacris.)

Although this movie was filmed before Crank 2, it seems it has been on the back burner for quite some time, speculation from Brendon Connelly of /Film,

“…I’d imagine there have been a number of factors in the relatively long period between production wrapping and Gamer hitting screens. For one thing, there’s going to be a certain amount of FX work necessary to realize a film like this; for another, it seems too low key a prospect to toss into the summer maelstrom, and should benefit at the box office from this kindly release later in the year; and also, I fear, there may have been some arguments, recutting and panic after test screenings reports were less than rhapsodic. That last point is, formally, speculation on my part but… erm… let’s not kid ourselves.

In the test screened version, at least, Butler’s character doesn’t speak for over 20 minutes at the beginning of the film and, worse still, when he does finally get some dialogue it doesn’t quite add up. This should be an easy change to spot when the film rolls out in September, should revamping have been taking place. Between now and then, my sport is going to see how well this new name takes.”

Here is the leaked Teaser Trailer

Possibly the best take on the trailer and movie so far is from spong.com, where they write,

“ZOMG! What happens when you get a bunch of Hollywood executives who recall when they played video games that, instead of regeneration after regeneration, meant that you had three lives? What happens when they’ve all seen:

War Games
Blade Runner
Running Man
Ender’s Game
Tron

You get Gamer (da movie). The trailer below appears to reference all the films above, includes Marilyn Manson’s version of Eurythmics’Sweet Dreams, and shows that Gerard Butler and Dexter (sorry, Michael C Hall) are starring. It also includes characters named ‘Rick Rape’, ‘Feek’, ‘Humanez Dude’.

Plot? Schmot… watch the trailer for that. Okay, in precis: futuristic USA. Game show/MMO in which real people control other real people; no one has survived; Butler is hero… you get the idea.

Basically, it’s uber-targeted at you, the Gamer! Now, we can only hope that the trailer translates into a movie that’s not patronising, worthless and a gashy cash-in. Enjoy!”

Although the teaser looks decent be aware that Gamer could very well stir up some negativity from the main stream media. If we didn’t have enough finger pointing at games already, claiming them as THE catalyst to myriad school shootings, this film is sure to receive a great deal of attention based on that same premise. No doubt some “knowledgeable” news anchor will attempt to demonize this movie for enticing gamers into real killing or how it foreshadows the likely future of games. However, hopefully we have finally reached a period where thoughtful discussion trumps ignorant stereotypes.

Freesky Online: Rome CAN Be Built In a Day

With the Freesky Online Closed Beta being released this week, there has been a rush of players into the new Freesky Online servers. However, as players get used to playing the game and become more familiar with the game functions, some players have been complaining that building construction is painfully slow. So the Freesky team from IGG are introducing a new function that is sure to be a hit with these busy gamers, the Sandglass.

The Sandglass is an important function of Freesky Online, as it instantly completes construction, updating, and manufacturing which may have otherwise taken several hours. Apart from the exclusive VIP functions found in other games, this function is available to all players as long as the max time cost is less than 8 minutes.

If the time cost for construction, updating, or manufacturing is more than 8 minutes, players have the option of purchasing Sky +Points in the Item Mall to create the same effect. In addition, players can buy services in the Item Mall to “Increase material yield by 20%”or ”Increase parts’ process speed by 20%”, which will help players complete more tasks in less time!

Players can participate in the following events to obtain Sky Points and experience the pleasure of their own personal Rome being built in a day (…or two)!

1. Freesky Online Parade—Make your proclamation and get 50 Gift Points!

2. King of the Sky——Top 10 Lords will obtain 200 Gift Points.

3. Treasure Boxes Giveaway Everyday——Claim treasure boxes 3 times every day and open them to get surprises.

Players must advance their characters to a certain level to be qualified for PVP. 4 different types of skills are available for each class in the game for players to pick up. Players can access different skill trees to train their characters in different ways and combat gets really intense when players have armored Corsairs cruising into battle. Massive weekly siege warfare will be an orgy of PvP fun for all you PK enthusiasts out there and a fabulous chance to show off combat skills.

Some of these instanced dungeons will not be accessible until players team up with each other. While performing instance quests will help players reap piles of EXP. There are some instances where players are required to grind bosses or elite mobs to loot elite equipment. To enter instances like these, players must reach higher levels.

Quest
This game has a great variety of quests for all classes to choose from. These quests will help players gain EXP and raise their level after completion while also offering players a break from repetitive mob killing. As players hit new levels, they will have the opportunity to choose from either main or side quests, which can mean anything from outright massacres to running an easy errand for NPCs, all with nice prizes at the end.

Corsairs
Corsairs are not cartoon tanks jostling around the map. They share the same luxurious designs as a Mercedes-Benz or a Hummer, only in this world, there’s no policeman to tell you that you can’t weld that rocket launcher on your ride. Players can drive them for fun, into combat or just to roll by an enemy real slow…

Combine/Refine
Players are a diverse lot that have interests in many different areas. One of the most popular ways for players to spend their time, besides questing or PvP, is in perfecting the arcane art of combining/refining. Part of the allure has to be the uniqueness of the items players can create. Really, who wants to wear something that everyone else is wearing? The other is the pride in creation, which is something that all players share. It may take time, may be a struggle, it might even require rare materials and a bit of luck, but when a player is done they can look at what they’ve created and feel proud. Work hard to push your equipment up to 4 stars, which is no easy feat, and the equipment will begin sparkling to show players that you have something that can’t just be bought in any store.

Galaxy Online: Cultivate Best Commanders

Commanders always play a crucial part in Galaxy Online war. Most players know that Spell Commanders are better than Common Commanders, but most of them may have ignored the common commanders’ base stats. Actually, to be a really excellent commander, he should not only master a powerful and practical spell but also possess high base attributes to assist with the spell.

Commanders’ Base Stats

Accuracy: Determines hit chance. When you have 140+ ships on a grid of a fleet, the ships on the grid will seldom miss hitting the enemy. When the hit chance goes beyond 100%, the excess is converted to extra damage.

Speed: Determines the turn to attack. With higher speed, the fleet will attack first.

Dodge: Helps to dodge enemies’ frontal attacks. Dodge reduces damage taken. The amount of damage reduction depends on the attacker’s hit chance and your Commander’s Dodge.

Electron: Determines the use of your air defense power and your shields’ damage absorption ability.

The initial level of commanders is 1, and commanders’ attributes are raised randomly as the level goes up. It often happens a Spell Commander does not have high enough attributes to assist with the spell. Well, the development team has given this some consideration and decided to fix it with a new function being added to the latest update. Players can choose to reset commander stats. After resetting, the commander will revert back to level 1 and their stats will return to default levels, but the stats growth rate will be adjusted.

Silkroad Online:Unique Monsters Part One

A major part of Silkroad Online is killing unique monsters.  Uniques are large sized monsters that spawn in each area on a regular time schedule.  They are larger than normal monsters and will show up as a purple dot on your radar gauge when you are within distance.  Uniques often have enhanced attacks and defenses and all of them, with the exception of BeakYung The White Viper and her mini-uniques, will spawn masses of regular, champion, elite and giant class minions to protect them as their hit points decrease.  Generally they spawn at regular intervals, when the Unique’s life is 80%, 60% and 20%.  If the Unique’s death is very quick, spawns can be skipped.

When a Unique spawns, its name and area are posted for the entire server to see and when they die, the name of it’s killer is also posted.  The kill goes to whomever gets the most damage, party first, then individual.  That means that your party as a whole has to out damage another party and then the person within that party who did the most damage gets the kill.  Because of this, it’s always a mad race to find the Unique before anyone else does and kill it to get your name displayed for all to see!  There are several tricks and tactics to killing them all and Ill outline some of them.  There are far more than what you will read here and experiences of your own will be the best teacher.

TigerGirl

TigerGirl, also known as “TG”, is the lowest level Unique at level 20.  She appears as a wild looking woman with a staff riding a giant white tiger.  Her worst attack is zombie status, which makes it so that your healing potions have the opposite effect, draining your life instead of increasing it.  Her defense and offense is mostly magical.  Her spawn area is in China around the Bandit Den west of Jangan, most often inside it at one of the four corners.  There is no real trick to defeating TigerGirl other than bring pills (I have known even high levels to die to zombie status) and be fast.  Because she is the lowest level Unique monster she dies the fastest, often within 30 seconds of spawning.  Higher levels will set up “spawn points” using reverse return scrolls from the item mall so that when they see her spawn, they are there in an instant.  If you get her alone, tow her to a side area as quickly as possible and kill her before someone else finds her!

Cerberus

Also known as “Cerb”, he is the second lowest level Unique at level 24.  He appears as a large, black, three-headed dog with a cloaked figure on its back.  Each head does a different kind of damage, including burn (dot), frozen (stuck in ice), frostbite (slowed movement speed) and poison (dot).  Almost all attacks are magical and defense is mostly magical.  A trick to finding him is when he is near you, the sky goes black and dark like a storm, so when that happens, watch your rador for his purple dot.  His spawn area is south of the city of Constantinople, on the other side of the river, most often spawning at crossroads or near them.  Like TG, Cerb is often “camped by high levels so if you find him, use aggro to drag him to a remote place.  Bring lots of status pills to counter his status effects.

Captain Ivy

Most often called Ivy for short, she is the next Unique in line at level 30.  Leading the Evil Order she is a tall, red haired pirate lady with a giant eagle summon over her head.  She attacks with a crossbow and all its skills of knockback, knockdown, stun (no movement), poison (dot) and burn (dot).  Her attacks are mostly magical with distance attacks and magical defenses, there is no stopping her kocking you flat or stunning you.  Her spawn area is in Asia Minor, west of the city of Samarkand and her most often spawn point is in the Amphitheater.  Because the spawn points are spread out over a larger distance then the lower level Uniques, Captain Ivy is anyone’s game and is least often camped among her lower level Unique counterparts.

Uruchi

Commonly known as “Uru” or “Uri” he is the level 40 Unique.  Uruchi is the general in charge of the Black Robbers and his spawn area is the Tarim Basin east of the city of Hotan, across the ferry.  He is a large man sitting astride a huge brown dragon and instead of breathing fire, he breathes dust.  Unlike most other Uniques, he has no status effects and his attacks aren’t that strong, but the hoards of robbers that he spawns are deadly!  If you aren’t a high level, the best way to kill Uru is to drag him around, getting his spawned summons stuck on buildings and trees and kill them.  All summons stay with their Unique so if you lead him close to a building, they get stuck and keep trying to follow him.  As long as the obstacle stays between the summon and Uru, you can kill them without them aggroing on you.  Uru’s most common spawn point is around the base of the Black Robber Den.

Isyutaru

Isyutaru, the level 60 Unique, is most often called “Isy” to those trying to find her.  She is the younger, spoiled daughter of a Himalayan ice god.  She fought with her sister, threw a tantrum and ended up running away to freezing an entire city.  She is an ice princess, frozen and shiny and has deadly magical attacks that rain ice from the sky, causing freeze (encased in ice) and frostbite (slowed movement).  She has no physical attack of her own, she leaves that to the giant yetis and more that she summons as she defends herself.  Bring pills to meet this princess and make sure you have “target support” enabled in your settings because when she summons, they are so large that she is completely hidden from view.  The drag and stick method of defeating her spawns also works, but because her most common spawns are on the Karakoram ice’s center, she is often killed by players power leveling their chars in this wide open space.

Lord Yarkan

Referred to as “LY” or “Yarkan” to most and he is level 80.  He is the Lord of the dead Niya empire and after his suicide, he wanders the remains of his once thriving lands.  LY is a giant, skeletal warrior in armor and he is pure physical in attack.  His best (or worst for YOU) move is his ground smash that knocks you back or down.  He also has a move similar to the warrior skill “Warcry” (like a skyward shout) and he only does that right before he spawns so you know when to run.  LY makes up for his lack of magical attack my spawning the Niya Shamans so watch out for their pure magical offensive.  Lord Yarkan spawns in the Taklmakan area north of Hotan.  His most common spawn point is in the Arena behind the Niya Remains.

Demon Shaitan

The Demon Shaitan is most commonly called Shaitan and is level 90.  He was once human and coorced a demon to aid him in overthrowing Roc, the ruler of Roc Mountain.  He failed and became one of Roc’s own minions.  He is a floating man with white hair and robes, carrying a staff and always accompanied by his green winged, demon counterpart fluttering behind him.  His attacks are mostly magical and so is his defense but his summons are the wild denizens of Roc Mountain, mostly all physical.  Be prepared for lots of stun status here!  Its a great boss for grabbing the last tier of 9th degree gear.  Shaitan is fast and his summons are fast, while most unques are slow moving.  His spawn area is small, the triangle of Heart, Wing and Claw Peak, but Shaitan doesnt stand around so look in all the corners for this wanderer.  His most common spawn point is just south of Claw Peak at the crossroads.

BeakYung, The White Viper

At level 105, this Unique is completely different from all the others and deserves an article all her own.  In the second part of Like a Boss:  A quick guide to Silkroad Online Unique monsters, I will take you through all the Guardians and complicated steps of reaching this difficult Unique deep in the Qin-Shi Tomb.

Dragonica Online:Skill and Combo System

Missile airstrikes, lethal flatulence, giant kitten heads, squeaky toy hammers and personal assault tanks. What do all these things have in common? They’re all at your disposal when battling the many enemies roaming the lands of Dragonica Online.

Dragonica Online’s skill system allows for in-depth gameplay that is easy to play but difficult to master. Adventurers begin their journey with the basic skills for their chosen class, battling monsters in order to advance to the next level and learn new, powerful skills. As players reach new levels, they earn Skill Points that can be used to acquire more advanced abilities. With plenty of choices available, players can take their time to develop truly unique characters tailored for any kind of play style.

Combining over-the-top humor and devastating power, Dragonica Online’s skill system injects fun and humor into the traditional MMO skill types. Warriors can wield huge hammers of fire or ice to smash opponents - but if extra strength is in need, they can transform their head into a giant bear’s for a strength boost. Advanced Archer classes can lob grenades of multiple types, or transform into Special Forces soldiers for extra defense powers. And any class, if powerful enough, can do away with an enemy by sending it smashing into the monitor screen!

Dragonica Online’s combo system incorporates unique opportunities for players to receive rewards through normal gameplay. With every successive hit landed on an enemy the combo meter increases and the higher the combo meter climbs the greater the experience bonus! Only by combining specialized skills will players be able to maximize their experience reward, creating excit ing opportunities for combat specialists to rapidly grow their characters at their own pace.

Combining the rush of fast-paced arcade combat with the depth of and RPG, Dragonica Online’s skill and combo systems are refreshing variations on traditional online role playing combat.

World of Warcraft:Musing on Buying Gold

As well all know, one of the ultimate sins of playing an MMO such as World of Warcraft is buying gold. This article is not meant to be a flame starter, more of an eye opener to see both sides of the story. I realize that people will strongly stand on one side or the other of the issue, but this is meant to be informative about how gold farming works, and how it affects the economy.

Putting aside the fact for a moment that gold farmers regularly hack people’s accounts in order to get fast gold, let’s look at the gold sellers that get their gold “legitimately” by farming it. Usually, these farmers will be on teams, with each person on a server, being paid to farm as much gold as possible to be sold off later. If they are doing this by farming crafting materials, this can have negative AND positive effects on the economy.

I realize right now, you’re probably thinking to yourself: “Well, this guy must be a gold buyer if he thinks there are any positive aspects.” You would be wrong, however, as I prefer to not risk losing my account and all of my time over a bit of gold that I could easily farm myself. What is being looked at more here is the fact that gold farmers are able to go back to the older content, and farm items that normally wouldn’t be sold. For example: If a gold farming company finds that maybe farming Large Brilliant Shards is profitable due to nobody else farming them, and they are able to make the largest turn over possible from this, they will do so. This will put Large Brilliant Shards into the market for the server, allowing enchanters who are either leveling up their professions or just doing low level enchants easy access to the materials. Without this farming being done, they would either have to farm the materials themselves, find a friend or guild mate with them, or spam trade chat for hours hoping to find someone that has what they need. This would be a large inconvenience to some people, deterring them away from what they were planning on doing. Another example is low level gear. Say someone decides they want to power level an alternate character, to fill a spot their guild needs in raids. They want to have the best gear possible while leveling, to reduce the amount of time they will be leveling. They buy their gear ahead of time, but they are missing a large amount of gear for a certain level gap, causing them to create a larger demand on this gear. This is a bit more of an extreme example, but it is possible. This player would then have to go farm the gear himself, spending more time (the exact thing he was trying to avoid in the first place), take longer to level (also causing him to have to spend more time), or just avoid leveling the character altogether, causing the guild to be missing a possibly much needed player to fill a certain role in their raid.

While I am trying to point out the positives of this, I will also acknowledge the negatives. As we all know, if gold farmers really did nothing but just farm, they would be a bit less of a problem in games. However, gold farmers tend to spam random players, or trade chat, with advertisements to their website. Blizzard has taken a stand against this (going so far as to shut down peons4hire and acquiring their web domain) and adding the “report spam” feature in chat to quickly remove gold spammers from the game. The spamming is a bit of a nuisance on normal servers, but on RP servers it can completely ruin the attitude and setting of someone. Also, gold farmers tend to key log people in order to gain access to their account. They then strip them of their gold, and either sell all of their gear as well or use them to spam advertisements or to farm more gold, with either resulting in them being banned.

This practice hurts the player base a lot, as compared to someone trying to power level their alt to fill a slot in their guild, they may be doing so at the expense of a necessary player, or possibly even the leader of another guild. Also, depending on the company, some gold sellers like to take your credit card info and make personal purchases with it after they have sold you the gold. This could cause you a large amount of financial distress, depending on your real life situation and how much they decide they want to take from you. There is also the risk of not even receiving the gold that you had purchased, with nothing you are able to do due to the fact that purchasing gold is against Blizzard’s terms of service, and very few credit card companies, banking companies and even Pay Pal will help you because gold and items are considered “intangible goods”.

The solution to this problem? So far, it seems as if cash shops are a way to go. Many free MMORPGs use this method to keep their games financially afloat, selling anywhere from in game money and costumes to the best items in the game. This allows you to spend money on what you want, allowing you to lower time invested and have fun sooner. CCP (The creators of EVE Online) have found a bit of a happy medium to buying gold. They allow players to buy game time and convert it to an in game item, which is then able to be sold for a hefty amount of ISK (EVE’s version of currency). This has a much smaller impact on the economy, as ISK is not being generated to be sold; however, the ISK still must be farmed by someone in order to be spent. This did not stop gold sellers on EVE, but it reduced their numbers by a large amount, and deterred people from risking their accounts when they want to buy ISK and offered them a safe alternative. SOE is more towards the far end, where they set up a shop where players are able to safely buy and sell gold and characters to each other, and SOE handles the transaction. This is the same as gold selling, however, only SOE is making more of a profit off of it, and allowing it in their game. World of Warcraft attempts to stop this problem by having a zero tolerance policy, meaning that if you are caught participating in real money trade, you will be banned permanently. This deters people who care about their accounts, but still leaves those who are willing to take the risk for easy gold and save themselves some time.

MapleStory:Magician Guide part one-Build Level 8-30

The following are all magician skill and stat builds for a first job magician.

Stat builds: Stat builds are much simpler than skill builds. The following are not in any particular order as they all work. Strength and Dexterity are never needed. Keep them at 4. Intelligence is your main attacking stat. The higher your intelligence, the higher damage you will hit with your spells. Luck adds to damage, but not nearly as much as intelligence. Luck is mainly added in order to equip armor and weapons.

Build A: Standard BuildLevel 8: Intelligence: 48 Luck: 11For every level from 9-30, put 4 points in Intelligence and 1 in Luck.

Why is this build good?

With this build, you will never be short on your luck requirements. You will be able to equip all your armor and weapons at the appropriate levels while still having a lot of power.

Build B: Luckless BuildLevel 8-30: Put all stat points into Intelligence

Why is this build good?

Luckless magicians are more powerful than their normal luck counterparts. This comes at a cost. Because they cannot equip the appropriate armors for their levels, they suffer on defense and magical defense.

Skill Builds: Skill builds are much harder to create because there are so many more options. The following skills are the skills available to Magicians in the first job.

Improving Improving Mana Recovery: This is a passive skill that should be maxed in all builds. It raises the amount of Mana recovered every ten seconds. It saves money and potions. It has no prerequisite.

Improving Max Improving Max Improving Max Mana Increase: This is another passive skill that should be maxed. It increases your max mana every time you level. By the end game, it gives more than three thousand extra mana compared to another end game magician who had not invested any points into it. It has a prerequisite of five points in Improving Improving Mana Recovery.

Magic Guard: This is an active skill that is essential as you level as a magician. When you are hit by a monster, and magic guard is activated, part of the damage hits your mana, and part hits your hit points. This allows a magician to take on the toughest monsters in the game. It has no prerequisite.

Magic Armor: This is the one of the only skills that a magician does not need to max. It adds a set amount of physical defense. Though it it better than Magic Guard during the first job, its use is very limited. When you are facing a monster that hits for thousands of damage, forty physical defense is useless. It has a prerequisite of three points in Magic Guard.

Energy Bolt: This is one of two magic attacks that you will receive as a Magician. It sends a ball of energy at the enemy. It has no prerequisite.

Magic Claw: This is the other magic attack Magicians receive. It attacks twice. It’s prerequisite is one skill point invested in Energy Bolt.

Energy Bolt vs. Magic Claw

There are many differences between Energy Bolt and Magic Claw:

Power: Magic Claw hits with two hits of 40 Spell Attack each. Energy Bolt hits once wth fifty five power. However, Magic defense is factored in twice with magic claw and only once with Energy Bolt.

Cost: Energy Bolt uses six less Mana than Magic Claw. However, Magic Claw has a better Damage to Cost ratio. Also, Energy Bolt users will have an extra skill point.

Accessibility: Magic Claw goes through walls. Energy Bolt doesn’t. Magic Claw also has slightly longer range. They have very similiar casting times.

The Verdict: Magic Claw is the preferred route to go, but Energy Bolt is still a viable option if you want to be unique.

Skill Build: Magic Claw and Energy Bolt are interchangeable.

This build provides the most mana. It maxes out the most important attacks and buffs. The following are variations on the skill build:

Variation A: Max Mana

Level 8: +1 Improving Mana RecoveryLevel 9: +3 Improving Mana RecoveryLevel 10: +1 Improving Mana Recovery +2 Improving Max Improving Max Mana IncreaseLevel 11: +3 Improving Max Improving Max Mana IncreaseLevel 12: +3 Improving Max Improving Max Mana IncreaseLevel 13: +2 Improving Max Improving Max Mana Increase +1 Energy BoltLevel 14-30: Revert back to the normal skill build

This variation adds even more max mana, but it is a very hard build. Because you lack a magic attack for five levels, leveling will be tough. However, with Henesys Party Quest (Guide Coming Soon), the five levels will shoot by.

Variation B: Early Damage

Level 8: +1 Energy BoltLevel 9: +3 Magic ClawLevel 10: +3 Magic ClawLevel 11: +3 Magic ClawLevel 12: +3 Magic ClawLevel 13: +3 Magic ClawLevel 14: +3 Magic ClawLevel 15: +2 Magic Claw +1 Improving Mana RecoveryLevel 16: +3 Improving Mana RecoveryLevel 17: +1 Improving Mana Recovery +2 Improving Max Mana IncreaseLevel 18: +3 Improving Max Mana IncreaseLevel 19: +3 Improving Max Mana IncreaseLevel 20: +2 Improving Max Mana Increase +1 Improving Mana RecoveryLevel 21: +3 Improving Mana RecoveryLevel 22: +3 Improving Mana RecoveryLevel 23: +3 Improving Mana RecoveryLevel 24: +1 Improving Mana Recovery +2 Magic GuardLevel 25-30: Revert back to standard build.

This variation is for the impatient players. It give the short term advantage of a good attack in exchange for the long term loss of Mana.

RF online Crafting Guide

Efficient Ways to Level

  • The complexity of an item does not effect the amount of PT that the character gains from crafting it.
  • A character gains no PT from any items crafted that have a required level to use that is lower than 1/2 of the character’s related craft PT. (With the exception of Ammo crafting). Conversely, the amount of PT gained is static within this range. Therefore, craft the lowest armor that still gives PT, to reduce the chance of failures.
  • It is cheapest to produce as many of the lowest level item as possible.

Weapon Crafting

  • This skill provides for the crafting of weapons and shields. The cheapest option while leveling weapons is to produce knives. Crafter-type pure-classed specialists who are Lv 40 or higher have the ability to randomly craft Type A (Purple) or Type B (Yellow/Intense) weapons and Type A shields.

Armor Crafting

  • This skill provides the crafter with the ability to craft each piece of armor, which requires a different color of processed ore.

Red Helmets
Yellow Upper Armor
Blue Lower Armor
Green Gloves
Black Boots

Boots are by the far the cheapest materials to grind, they use the least amounts of materials. Crafter-type pure-classed specialists who are >L40 have the ability to randomly craft Type B (Yellow/Intense) armor.

Ammo Crafting

  • Ammo Crafting allows the specialist to create special ammo for guns and bows. These can have elemental properties, splash type damage, or even increased damage. Ammo is no longer purchasable at the Sundries NPCs. The most effective way of leveling is to break down 4 stacks of Mid Mika into Louis Mika and All that Louis Mika into Mika. This should supply you with enough mika to go from 1-99 or at least 89 which is the last PT level you recieve a new recipe at. Getting to 99 PT only enhances your chance at success when creating ammo. Accretians cannot make rockets or flamethrower cartridges, but can manufacture grenade launcher ammo.

RF online Animus Types

Isis/Sealed Isis

Description: Her name literally means “she of throne”, that is, “Queen of the throne”, which was portrayed by the emblem worn on her around her neck. She was known as being the goddess of magic and healing. The Ancients believed that the rivers flooded every year because of her tears of sorrow for her dead husband, Osiris. He was killed by her other evil brother, Seth, god of chaos and destruction. Seth sliced Osiris into bits and flung them into hell, letting the Demons eat the remains of his body. However, all the pieces survived, except for one of them. She cursed his name and gave herself to power bonding herself to the powers remaing in her husband and became a animus so that she may seek her revenge, but though she did get her revenge she was forever bonded to the title of animus and is forced to serve whoever should call on her power.

RF online review for warrior offense types on each race. Add to Bookmark

Accretia:Punisher

PROS:
1. High attack power.
2. They have net to pin down enemies to stop them on their tracks.
3. They have an ability to make an enemy bleed and lose HP.
4. Their class attack skill, Mangle, can deal really heavy damage.
5. Easy access to Cure Chargers for being Accretians.

CONS:
1. Their running speed depends on high-end accessories which are really expensive.
2. Their class attack skill, Mangle, needs to land 4 hits for it to finish. Enough time for the enemy to cool down their potions and could have the chance to run away if they don’t get stunned.

Bellato:Berserker

PROS:
1. Similar to the Punisher, they too have high attack power.
2. Easy access to Velocity(speed), Aegis(defense), and Evasion(dodge). All three are Holy force buffs which can be obtained from casters of their respective race. Plus, they have a basic race spell that extends the duration of Holy force buffs giving them a very good advantage in PvP survival wise.
3. Their class buff does not also increase attack power but also dodge as well to give them a boost in dodge stats making them perfect for holding 2-handed weapons longer than any other warrior classes.
4. Their class attack skill, Double Crash, deals a serious amount of damage to enemies.
5. They have a de-buff class skill that slows down enemy movement giving them the opportunity to land fatal attacks.
6. More of a Dodger than a Def type.

CONS:
1. Very vulnerable from de-buffs such as Individual Cancellation or Shock Grenades that results to losing their force buffs.
2. Their class attacks skill, Double Crash, needs to land 2 hits before it finishes and could get enemies the advantage to run away if the skill is still in progress.
3. Has no access to normal NPC Cure Chargers/Potions. Must get those from shop which involves spending real money.

Cora:Templar

PROS
1. Similar to the Punisher and Berserker, they have 2 class buffs that increase attack power.
2. Not like the other two race class, they have an additional buff that increases critical attacks.
3. Also has a class buff to increase movement speed.
4. They also have access to Velocity(speed) which can make them run faster.
5. Their class attack skill, Full Swing, deals heavy damage.
6. The best warrior for DPS (Damage Per Second). Their Full swing skill only needs 1 hit for it to finish then can move on to other skills such as Pressure, Clout Chop, Slash, etc.
7. As the Templar falls under the race of Cora. Heavy damage is a norm to the class and its players due to the fact that accessories of Cora commonly have the ATK increase attribute.

CONS:
1. They don’t have the ability to stop or slow enemy movement down.
2. Vulnerable to de-buffs, similar to the Berserker.
3. Have no access to NPC Cure Chargers/Potions. Also similar to the Berserker.
4. Corite Templars are focused on attack that they have little talent in dodging and only have moderate defense for their survival. I suggest your survival would depend on your ATK damage.

Freesky Online: Economical Development Directions

With easy-to-complete newbie quests, Freesky Online is a game that players can get started playing very fast. After the newbie period and introductions to all the critical components and functions, you need to choose a direction for your empire to develop. With the might of an Empire weighing on you, many players will choose the safe route and go for strong economic development. This is the safe route because it ensures a stable economy with plenty of money to buy either arms or supplies. So, once you’ve decided to be a business friendly empire, where do you go from there?

Capitalism Gone Wild
This direction is quite extreme, and in later phases, the potential to suddenly explode onto the scene becomes greater and greater. However, this kind of empire has a fatal weakness in that they will often be so busy trading and so focused on profit margins that they forget to build an Army. They will need, and depend on strong military-oriented allies.
Apart from the resources used for constructing and upgrading buildings, the rest will be sold to produce more funds to put back into economic development.  After your economy gets rolling, you can either continue developing it or begin developing your military.

A Little Bit of Everything
Development in this way means that you enjoy the best of both worlds, but are no match for the extremes. With an average economy producing average results that must support both the economy and an average military, this way of developing means that you will be able to withstand attacks from average players, but when facing an enemy that has grown beyond you, your moderation will come back to haunt you as you’re overwhelmed. Wild capitalists will be able to use their massive economy and large amounts of resources to quickly build an Army that will crush your Empire, while massively militaristic states will have been writing your eulogy since they launched their first airship. Maintaining a balance can be good, but don’t let it doom your Empire to mediocrity. Those same militaristic states that may threaten to overwhelm you may also be important allies; while with a good economy, you can take advantage of the business friendly capitalists. Choosing friends and allies may make all the difference for this type of economy.

Hidden Development
They say knowledge is power. Knowing something your enemy doesn’t can be very powerful, to be sure. Keeping your development hidden and letting potential friends or enemies know only what they need to know can be very helpful when it comes time to put force to words. However, don’t let your clever plans be your undoing. If your enemies see through you, you may end up falling easy to a well planned attack at just the right time.
Develop your economy for a time, possibly 2 or 3 days or a little longer, and then switch to focus on your military. Attack NPC zones or weaker players to gather resources for your budding military or to trade. Don’t fall into patterns of development; change is your friend and strategy.

With your development going in so many directions, it may buy you enough time to develop into a power in the region, or to find powerful allies.

Entropia Universe:Gathering Teleporters

On Planet Calypso the most efficient way of travelling long distances is using teleporters (TP’s). Teleporters are scattered throughout the map and allow instant travel between them. The bad news is that you have to manually activate them first before you can use them, the good news is that you will get to explore the continent, discover the wildlife dangers and it will only take some time, well actually quite a bit of time, but activating as many teleporters as possible as soon as possible will help you a lot when hunting in teams, getting to know the game, reaching events or simply travelling quickly to different places. It may also be one of the requirements asked of you before you can join a society. This guide will describe the most efficient route between them to avoid some of the dangers.

If you’re lucky enough to know some armed friends or maybe even have a mentor, you might want to ask them to come along and get rid of the creatures on the way as some can be quite aggressive. If you don’t know anyone available to tag along try to steer around the red dots on your radar. Most creatures will leave you alone as long as you don’t let them inside the smallest circle on your radar (50 meters). If you do get chased down by one or more of them you can try to run for automated turrets around cities/outposts, or you can get into nearby water and hope they will drown before they eat you.

While you’re putting on your hiking/running boots, keep in mind that as long as you’re not wearing any armour, getting hit/killed won’t cost you anything and you’ll simply revive at a nearby reviving point. You can also be transported to the nearest reviving point by pressing “T” at any time, this might save you some running time. If you follow the map included with this guide you can safely use this method from where the dotted line starts. However, if you don’t travel the required distance first, or stray from the route too far and press “T” you can end up at different reviving points. Some of these are heavily surrounded by nasty creatures and you can get “stuck” there. If you follow the route explained here, there is least chance of that happening. If you do get stuck at an outpost, there is a team of players dedicated to rescue missions, you can contact them at: www.euforces.com.

Another thing to consider is that if you have too many items in your inventory, they will slow you down, so putting things in storage before you go might mean the difference between life or death when you try to outrun angry creatures. Also, as soon as you come close to a teleported, it will show up on your radar as a blue dot, you can use it to navigate the last part of the distance.

The guide is split up into three routes (see the map included) : The red route covers the western part of the Eudoria continent and takes a little more than two hours, the green one on the east can take almost three hours and the smallest yellow one to the south can be done in 45 minutes. The numbers in the descriptions below correspond with the numbers on the map. After that comes the name of the location followed by the coordinates and the last number is approximately the time it takes to run from the previous location. The creatures mentioned are the ones you might encounter when travelling to that location.

Acclaim Games releases the latest Patch 1.0.4 called “Scrolls of Keys and Courage” for The Chronicles of Spellborn MMORPG on May 12.  The latest patch introduces an all new PvP arena to put your abilities to the test, a mysterious new Demon Chest which requires several keys to reveal the secrets that lie hidden inside, and a ton of other new features, quest enhancements, and skill fixes!

House Maul has opened the Quarterstone Arena for organized player matches. The Arena will offer players the possibility to play Arena Skirmishes where they can battle against others of the same level range.  Players will be placed in one of five unique Arenas, where they are placed head to head to prove their skills.

In addition, the Arena League gives players a chance to prove themselves in competition against the best ranked teams.  Players can form their own teams and enter them in either the 2v2 or 4v4 Leagues.  Points will be awarded on a weekly basis, based on the teams’ position, which can be used to purchase unique Arena rewards.  Matches fought for the League will directly impact the team’s ranking and position on the ongoing League.

There have also been new reports of an unusual treasure chest named the Demon Chest in the basement of the Palace in the Quarterstone Palace District…but no one knows why it is there.  To open the mysterious Demon Chest, players must find the three unique keys which have not yet been found.  Retrieve these and unlock the chest to reveal the mystery that’s hidden inside!
