Galaxy Online: Pirate Resurgence

A wise warrior once said that “the more you tighten your grip, the more star systems will slip through your fingers.” This is especially true for the Pirates in Galaxy Online (http://go.igg.com). These brigands enjoy the anonymity that the vastness of space provides, but with ever greater numbers of players settling ever increasing numbers of planets, they seem to be squeezing the Pirates out.

However, for those that were hoping to see the pirates exterminated once and for all, they are in for a rude awakening. In the coming update, the Pirates will make a major technical breakthrough that will allow them to increase their numbers exponentially. The development of Pirate Heavy Factories, capable of producing vast numbers of warships in just a short amount of time, will definitely add some weight to the pirate side of the balance of power in the Galaxy.

With this latest technical development by the Pirates, it will also allow them to produce a surplus of ships, meaning they can sell them to players who may need more ships than they can produce. If players study Diplomacy, they will be able to make contact with the Pirates and set up warship trade relations. The Pirates have 7 different classes of warships for players to choose from, and as the Diplomacy goes up, and trade relations improve, higher class ships will become available.

Galaxy Online: New Corps System Preview

Recently the Galaxy Online development team has been working hard to improve and enrich the corps system. After next week’s scheduled maintenance, new functions will be introduced to Corps.

a)The corps founder will still be the Corps Colonel by default. Corps Colonels are the leader of the corps and control all corps functions. Corps Colonels will also be able to design/change corps badge and transfer the position to other members of the corps as they see fit.

b)Each corps will consist of 1 Corps Colonel, at most 3 Vice-Colonels, 1 Chief of Staff and other members.

c)Vice-Colonels and the Chief of Staff are able to recruit/remove common members and edit the corps bulletin.

d)Other members will be graded at different levels according to their contribution to the corps and shootdown. The titles are Private Soldiers, Corporals, Sergeants, Pilot Officers, First Lieutenants, Captains, Majors and Group Captains from low to high. The official rank will affect the player’s jurisdiction in the later development.

Galaxy Online: Warship Design Contest

Since the opening of the International Battleground, more and more warships have been taking up advanced positions in all corners of the universe, and skirmishes between fledgling and well established Empires have been growing. Consequently, warship design has become extremely important as each Empire seeks advantages over others. Equipping ships with the proper modules not only saves resource consumption but also plays a big part in how long a fleet may last in the unforgiving emptiness of space. Which designs are the most practical, the most devastating, or the fastest? We want answers to all these questions and more, so step forward and show us what you know.

To participate in this event, simply sign up by replying to the event thread http://forum.go.igg.com/viewthread.php?tid=3696&extra=page%3D1  and submit your favorite blueprint of an offensive ship, defensive ship, decoy/anti-decoy and also explain what inspired you to design them in your unique way. The deadline for submissions is 20th May and a player poll will be held from 21st to 24th May to select the most popular warship designs. The top 3 blueprints of each type of the offensive ship, defensive ship and decoy/anti-decoy will then win different amounts of Karma. (Karma is the credits obtained from the forum event and can be exchanged for mall points.) We will also draw 10 lucky players among the voters, and reward them with 100 Karma each for participating.

Hurry up! We can’t wait to see the best designs from the community.

Galaxy Online: Cultivate Best Commanders

Commanders always play a crucial part in Galaxy Online war. Most players know that Spell Commanders are better than Common Commanders, but most of them may have ignored the common commanders’ base stats. Actually, to be a really excellent commander, he should not only master a powerful and practical spell but also possess high base attributes to assist with the spell.

Commanders’ Base Stats

Accuracy: Determines hit chance. When you have 140+ ships on a grid of a fleet, the ships on the grid will seldom miss hitting the enemy. When the hit chance goes beyond 100%, the excess is converted to extra damage.

Speed: Determines the turn to attack. With higher speed, the fleet will attack first.

Dodge: Helps to dodge enemies’ frontal attacks. Dodge reduces damage taken. The amount of damage reduction depends on the attacker’s hit chance and your Commander’s Dodge.

Electron: Determines the use of your air defense power and your shields’ damage absorption ability.

The initial level of commanders is 1, and commanders’ attributes are raised randomly as the level goes up. It often happens a Spell Commander does not have high enough attributes to assist with the spell. Well, the development team has given this some consideration and decided to fix it with a new function being added to the latest update. Players can choose to reset commander stats. After resetting, the commander will revert back to level 1 and their stats will return to default levels, but the stats growth rate will be adjusted.

Galaxy Online: Guide to the Ruins

The Ruins are a mystical area that players in Galaxy Online have been speculating about for some time now. Although not much information is available, its geographic and strategic importance cannot be exaggerated as the Ruins sit at the center of the Galaxy, sharing borders with all factions. This allows a force occupying it to attack any other faction with ease. In addition to its strategic importance is the value of the trophies that can be looted here. However, with so many reasons to go after this mysterious place, don’t assume it is abandoned or unguarded and never underestimate the dangers that lie in wait there…

The Ruins Guide

1.The Ruins are located in the middle of the vast universe. Orbiting around it are 5 Transmission Platforms.

2.When a faction has occupied 3 of the Transmission Platforms, the faction’s fleets will be able to enter the Ruins.

3.The Ruins and the Transmission Platforms are guarded by strong pirates. The supplies consumed and the warships shot down while assaulting the Ruins or the Transmission Platforms won’t be refunded.

Rewards

1.In the Ruins, there are 4 chests, each of which contains 1 million Science points, and 2 rescue capsules, both of which contain a Spell Commander.

2.On each Transmission Platform, there are 2 chests, each of which contains 300,000 Science points.

Trophies will appear on the screen once players defeat the pirates. However, since only a limited number of rewards have been prepared, players must hurry to claim them.

The Ruins System Respawn

When the Ruins are occupied, the server will make it public and begin a 24 hour countdown. Any fleets that are remaining in the Ruins system will be sent back to their own home galaxy. When the countdown has finished, the Ruins system (including the pirates, chests and rescue capsules) will respawn and players can attack the Transmission Platforms and the Ruins again.

We are now pleased to announce the details and rules about the first phase of the battle in the International Battleground.

For the first phase battle, the International Battleground will be opened at 9:00pm EDT (GMT-4) May 5th and closed at 10:00pm EDT (GMT-4) May 10th.

Considering the particularity of the International Battleground, we’ve adjusted the rules of the battle as follows.

Initially, each participant has 50 million Science points, 1.5 billion Alum, 1 billion Gas and 0.9 billion Population.

Galaxy Online: Mystery of Blue Giants

In the vast universe across Galaxy Online hide innumerous huge objects that constantly emit blue rays of light. They are the Blue Giants. Until now they have remained peaceful observers of the chaos engulfing the universe. “An old star containing much energy, reconstructed by some means”- The definition of the Blue Giant has given rise to much speculation. Now all the Galaxy Online players will be witnessing an important transformation of Blue Giant to Star Fortress. This change will create more uncertainty to the battle results, and surely make the game more entertaining.

Blue Giants are in fact secret fortresses that look peaceful and quiet on the outside. After a series of intense research, these blue planets can be converted into Star Fortresses that are able to dock friendly fleets and keep them invisible. When hostile fleets intrude into the galaxy, the hidden fleets will appear and attack invading enemies automatically. When the battle ends, all fleets will go back into hiding. To activate Blue Giants requires a great deal of Science points, but their defensive value should never be disregarded. These giant, blue guardians of the galaxy will change the course of the battle within seconds.

Galaxy Online: Black Beard Instance

Galaxy Online will release the Black Beard Instance on April 28th. The Black Beard Instance is similar to senior training fields, in that players can gain abundant experience by defeating pirates. However, unlike the training fields, this instance also rewards winners with great resources. Considering that players may not have enough warships in their homeland to defeat the enemies in the field, the development team will soon be adding a new function to allow players to teleport their warships back home.

The Black Beard Instance lasts for a week, from April 28th to May 7th EDT (GMT-4)

About the instance:
1. The Black Beard Instance is in the players’ home. All players are allowed to challenge the enemies in the instance.
2. The enemies in the instance are extremely tough. The instance has 3 difficulty levels. Only when defeating a lower difficulty level in the instance can a player move up and challenge higher level enemies.
3. There is no limit to the number of times a player can challenge the instance but players can only get rewards from 3 victories each day. The rewards include Alum, Gas, Population and Science points.
4. After leaving an instance, the player’s fleets will return to the stats they had before they were moved to the instance.

First come, first Served. Remember time is everything in this unique game.

Galaxy Online: Development Direction

What types of hero will you be? This is probably one of the first questions players will answer when playing most of MMORPGs. However, Galaxy Online does not provide players class options. At the beginning, most players incline to develop their galaxies comprehensively, ending up constructing almost all available types of buildings. The problem is whether you can balance your resource yield and consumption. The universe is enormous, but players are never alone. Joining corps and having a specific role will take you and your fraction closer to the victory. Here Galaxy Online expects hint you the possible directions of career development.

Farmers
“Farmers” only build industrial infrastructures. They work hard to produce resources (alum, gas and people). Usually 80% or more of the resources they exploit are transported to “Military Engineers”.

Military Engineers
“Military Engineers” are dedicated to studying science and warship construction. They must substantially produce high science points to support hull and module’s study. Also they excel at warship design, spending time on researching the best warship they can form from the available hulls and modules. The battleships they build are delivered to “Soldiers”.

Soldiers
“Soldiers” are masters of warships, capable of arranging fleets to the most fearsome array. They recruit and train Spell and Super commanders. Their superior strategic abilities will cause enemies the worst destruction while protecting their allies from tremendous attack.

Stay in the same vicinity, use communication, coordinate attacks and ability use, and have a strategy. Good teamwork is probably the most important factor for success. It takes time and practice to develop, but it’s worth working on.
